Reduce power consumption
Reduce power consumption by using solar powered lights when possible. Consider solar powered hot wires. Install timers and motion detectors on outdoor lighting. Changes such as installing barn skylights and keeping them clean can help reduce lighting bills. Less expensive options include installing Compact Flourescent lights (CFL) or timers to turn lights on or off automatically.

Recycled Cardboard for horse bedding and livestock animal bedding Eco friendly animal bedding is gradually becoming a popular choice. This type of animal bedding is beneficial to the environment as well and can be made out of corrugated cardboard chips, sticks or shredded paper. Results from scientific research show that cardboard bedding is the best suited for horse bedding, particularly when dealing with cases of allergies or breathing problems. The Journal of Equine Veterinary Science recommends using recycled cardboard for horse bedding for prevention and treatment of horses with COPD, breathing problems or allergies. Cardboard bedding is super absorbent, cost effective, light and easy to handle. The Canadian Equine Research Council research reports reveal that cardboard bedding is found to be 5 times more absorbent than wood shavings, 6 times more absorbent than straw bedding and twice more absorbent than hemp bedding.
