Let’s face it, your horse can get dirty. Really dirty. At worst, he’s rolled in the pasture and is covered with mud and manure. The wash water from your wash rack contains fly spray, shampoo, show sheen, manure, and any other products you and your fellow horse owners have used to keep your horse looking good. Whether you’re getting your horse ready for that big show or just washing him off to remind yourself what color he really is, that bath has potential negative consequences for aquatic species in nearby streams. Be mindful of your shampoos and other products and choose non-toxic, environmentally friendly ingredients.
